The image that I used to create this painting was taken on a walk in Fairfax, not too far from where we lived. The tree was in its prime bloom, no spent blossoms. OMG – so gorgeous. Hardly anything says “spring” more than standing under and looking... 
Shop Archival Prints It doesn’t rain often while roses are in bloom in the San Francisco Bay Area. When I took this photo, we had a real downpour in early June. It was a Saturday and I was outside, barefoot in the mud and still in my PJ’s taking pictures... 
It may be hard to see what’s going on here, but it’s the faint light of the projector on the watercolor paper after I finished drawing. It’s only a small piece of the painting. Just one layer of the blue sky background in. I think it’s too...
