This one will be called &#8220;Napa&#8221; (photo on the left, painting on the right).<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Listen to this post:<\/p>\n<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-5438-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.lifeinfullcolor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/20171122-Post.m4a?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lifeinfullcolor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/20171122-Post.m4a\">http:\/\/www.lifeinfullcolor.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/20171122-Post.m4a<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>I started writing a post about a trip I took last weekend \u2013 a trip down an online rabbit hole into the darkness that is emerging in our world, seemingly at every turn.\u00a0 I\u2019m so compelled to understand human behavior in the big scheme of things, that I just can\u2019t help myself!\u00a0 Though I did have some insights from down there &#8211; about seeking wholeness rather than perfection, I\u2019ve re-considered whether I really want to be that deep and complicated today.\u00a0 I decided to keep what I say much simpler and to be <em>much<\/em> more brief.<\/p>\n<p>This is Thanksgiving week in the US \u2013 when we are generally talking about blessings and gratitude, which isn\u2019t as easy this year as much of what is happening in our world seems like anything <em>but<\/em> a blessing.\u00a0 Life on Earth is complicated.\u00a0 Every aspect of it is a mixed bag \u2013 and always has been.\u00a0 But it seems like the bag-of-life is more mixed up than ever before.\u00a0 Sometime last year I saw this statement go by on my Facebook feed:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThings are not falling apart, they are being revealed &#8211; we just have to hang on.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This rang so deeply true to me that it is now burned into my brain &#8211; and heart.\u00a0 I repeat it to whomever I encounter who expresses fears about our state of affairs.\u00a0 If I\u2019ve learned anything from the times of great personal trial in my life, it is that my capacity to hold <em>what<\/em> is always increases by living through the struggle.\u00a0 The greater our capacities, the more we find blessing everywhere.\u00a0 And the less we rail against what is, the more we allow reality to teach us what we need to learn.\u00a0 Our times are calling upon us to practice radical welcome.<\/p>\n<p>There is much work to do, AND there is much to pause to be grateful for.\u00a0 I am grateful for all my beloved teachers who illuminate my path, for a community of artists devoted to their work and to each other, for the capacity to see and create beauty, for those who support my endeavors, making what I do and <em>who I get to be<\/em> possible, for the belonging of family all around, for the love and support of a great person as my life partner and for the ever-faithful, ever-playful companionship of our Labrador, Bo-Doggy.<\/p>\n<p>Happy Thanksgiving, everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Love,<\/p>\n<p>Cara<\/p>\n ","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Listen to this post: I started writing a post about a trip I took last weekend \u2013 a trip down an online rabbit hole into the darkness that is emerging in our world, seemingly at every turn.\u00a0 I\u2019m so compelled to understand human behavior in the big scheme of things, that I just can\u2019t help [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_exactmetrics_skip_tracking":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_active":false,"_exactmetrics_sitenote_note":"","_exactmetrics_sitenote_category":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[29],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-5438","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-life-stories"],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.2 -
