Welcome
Meet Cara
I am obsessed by color. I am a sucker for the drama of striking light. I keep being drawn to the lush fullness of fruit. I’m soothed by looking at flowers. I think food can be as beautiful as anything else. I want only the simplicity of watercolor – painting pure pigment on cotton paper. I love to make these paintings.

Watercolor Conversations
For four years I faithfully wrote weekly journal entries for my blog. Now and then I go back to what I’ve written and think that some of this huge body of content could be given new life – but the impulse was to use my speaking voice this go-round.
Watercolor Conversations with Cara Brown is the result. I am re-visiting some of these journal entries – sharing the stories, seeking, and inspiration in my written words – along with whatever else occurs to me to say at this point in time.

August 9, 2013 – Started a new one – a HUGE waterlily
The paper is 40"x40". My hope is to paint it in time to be framed and display at the Sausalito Art Festival at the end of the month. Prayers that I can are gladly received!
August 7, 2013 – Roses from Paris in Fairfax
When Bo and I were on our morning walk we saw that our neighbor Adrienne who is a florist was tossing a bunch of roses because they weren't fresh enough. I realized they were the same *exact* variety that I saw and then painted from a flower stall in Paris! Fun!
August 4, 2013 – Chocolates are almost there!
Was tedious painting all the brown. The toppings on these truffles were a fun reward! Just a bit more pink on the raspberry truffles to go. Out on the deck of the house where we are staying in Tahoe. Listening to the birds and the wind in the pine and fir trees. Heaven.
